Grey's Haven Farm Sanctuary, located in Port Colborne, is a safe haven for rescued farm animals as well as a home-between-homes for cats and other animals. Our mission is to educate through connecting people with animals and promoting compassion for all living beings. We encourage a cruelty-free, plant-based lifestyle through showcasing the amazing animals at the sanctuary. Grey’s Haven Farm Sanctuary will hold events where visitors are welcome to take tours and connect with our residents while learning about their stories.
Grey is our resident goose. She came to us with splay legs (it was like she was doing the splits and could not walk) when she was just hatched. By making a brace with half a band-aid we were able to correct her legs which allowed her to walk normally. Grey has bonded with our sole Muscovy duck, Georgie. It did not take them long to become friends! Not only does she look out for Georgie but she also watches over the entire property and everyone living here. If anything is out of place, she sounds the alarm to let us know there is a problem. Grey is the matriarch of the sanctuary and has such a strong, beautiful presence, I knew immediately that the sanctuary should be named in her honour.
Animal lover; nature lover; momma to fur and feather babies; vegan; photographer.
To say I have always loved animals is an understatement. I have been fortunate to be raised in a family with a love of animals and have had many pets. But at some point, my love of animals turned into a passion.
I started fostering for a cat rescue three years ago and in the time I worked with them, I fostered 23 cats and kittens (a few who are still with us). Over the years I have also provided a home for some transient dogs that were in between homes.
When I brought home my first goats, owing a farm sanctuary was not something I was thinking about. One day I was sitting outside with Jacob and Jasper and my many ducks and chickens and I realized that being with them had become my safe place. I looked forward to finishing work for the day so I could go out and spend time with them. On one of those afternoons, I realized that I wanted to offer them and others exactly what they gave to me - sanctuary. It was still a couple of years and a few more rescues before this whole new adventure came to light and now I couldn't be more excited to see where things will go!
Your gift will help in many ways such as feed for our residents, provide veterinary care, housing, shelter or facility improvements and community outreach to educate the public about the true nature of farmed animals and much more.
